Spring Is Here
Capt. Will Tuesday, April 04, 2017
Got back onto the water this winter after a little hiatus. Installed some new stuff on the boat including trim tabs and my new Lowrance Elite 7ti with totalscan. This thing is awesome. We are marking fish, bait and structure like we never have before and I have satellite photo overlay on my chart with the Navionics platinum plus chip. Anyways.... about the fishing...
There was a school of huge reds at the cape for a while that we got on a couple times before they high tailed out of here. I hope they come back. Plenty of bluefish of course and the water temps are rising, so we should soon see the first atlantic bonito of the year and some spring false albacore action. Yesterday, there was word of some chopper bluefish feeding on the puppy drum at the shoals. Can't wait to go look for them!
I ventured a little farther north of my usual range for some trout scouting and we put a hurting on them. Here's hoping they stick around into the summer up there off the Neuse. Zman plastics, suspending hard baits and egret wedgetails got the job done.
Enjoy some of the pictures!
