Summer Fishing In Full Swing

Summer Fishing In Full Swing

Capt. Will Tuesday, June 27, 2017

From redfish on topwater baits, to grouper offshore, we've been enjoying good variety out there lately. My favorite, the inshore waters, have been on fire. There was one week when the tides were super low and we couldn't really get up on the flats where we like to fish. But, other than that, it's been awesome fishing inshore. Speckled trout and flounder starting to show up in numbers as well.

The ocean got calm for a short period in May and we were after the cobia, and did okay. It wasn't exactly the strongest cobia year on record. Amberjack fishing isn't all that, but we have found some interesting mixed bag on the wrecks during one of the calm weeks this June. Cobia, grouper and mahi were the highlights.

Big blacktip and spinner sharks behind the trawlers and chumming inside. Spanish mackerel and snake kings are starting to pick up good just off the beach. Looking forward to some good live bait fishing soon. Was on some nice 3-5lb bluefish inside the backwaters, until a strike netter depleted all the schools in that area in two days... Sad that we still allow that in NC and for what? Crab bait? I was so upset about that....

Didn't realize I hadn't updated all summer. Will try to keep this fishing report section more updated through the summer and into fall. In the meantime, it's time to pick up the phone and call to book your summer inshore/nearshore adventure! 919-218-8451
